Television

I admit it. I've watched a lot of TV in my life, ever since the Mickey Mouse Club in the 1950s. But, not enough to call myself a tvholic. Oh, sure there are days or nights when I sit in front of the TV and jump from channel to channel during commercials. That's so I don't think about stuff, including writing projects.

These days, I usually fall asleep after an hour of TV, if even that, including on programs that I like. For instance, I rarely make it through Elementary, the show about Holmes and Watson in modern day New York. It could be a genetic trait. The Mama falls asleep in front of the TV after dinner.  Molly the Cat snuggles alongside her and they both snore in front of the TV. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

I suppose I could stay awake if I wasn't lying down. "Sit up," says the Husband, waving his hand in front of my face. "I'm awake," I mumble. Barely, of course, but I'm not going to say so. And, maybe I shouldn't close my eyes during a commercial. Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

This year, I especially enjoy watching Bob's Burgers (love that Louise with her bunny ears), The Big Bang Theory, The Mindy Project, and The Neighbors. Reality shows? Yup, I continue to watch Survivor and The Amazing Race. Lately, I care more about seeing the surroundings as the people do their competitions. What TV shows do you like to watch?

Yawwwwn. Writing about television is putting me to sleep. Time to go make some Zzzzzzzzzzzzz. Perhaps without the television on.

    1. Manzi, Elementary is on CBS on Thursday nights. In California, it's shown at 10 pm. Hope you can find it. Are you a Sherlock Holmes fan? In this version, Dr. Watson is a woman played by Lucy Liu.

  2. I usually fall asleep in front of the TV too, especially during the week when I get up at 5:15 in the morning for work.

    1. I do not envy your morning wake up times at all. Happy dreams to you. :-)

  3. Big Elementary fan! Clever writing keeps me entertained although we record it because by the time we get home from baseball practice and games, we're tired. Survivor fan too. Which reminds me, need to setup record because we have a game tonight. Mickey Mouse Club was probably my favorite program ever!

    1. I like it when we record shows. We can then speed through the commercials. This is a good season of Survivor, don't you think? I don't think Cass can win over Tony, no matter how annoying he may be.

  4. I am a TV aholic and noone better take my remote:) I love watching The Amazing Race and Dancing With The Stars. I like Castle, Grimm, Face Off and documentaries. Of course old movies and any movie unless it is Sharknado...welll I would watch that too just to laugh at how bad it is. I am with you for falling asleep and I have injured my self by suddenly waking and throwing my head back and hitting it against the wall-that's smarts!

    1. Sometimes I wake up because the Husband is trying to pry the remote out of my hand. hahaha

  5. I watch very little tv but a natural history documentary would be top of the viewing list. Sometimes a bad Syfy movie is perfect for winding down after an exciting day's writing. Thank you for my A-Z visit, hope you are enjoying the challenge :-)

    1. Sometimes I wake up to the Husband watching a natural history documentary. It's rather eye wakening to see an animal gobbling its prey.

  6. Susie,

I rarely watch TV. I'd rather go to bed early and read a book. I do enjoy a movie with my family every now and then. My husband often falls asleep in front of the TV. He wakes up in the early hours of the morning and then drags himself off to bed.

    1. I've fallen asleep reading books, too. They at least wake me up when they fall on my face.

  7. I love the same reality shows, and The Mindy Project is a new favorite. I haven't seen Elementary yet (out of some silly sense of allegiance to BBC's Sherlock, as if I can't just enjoy both), but now that Walking Dead's season has ended and both Breaking Bad and Dexter are done with, Fargo has become my new dark little nugget.

  8. I love how you drew the antennae on the TV, which makes feel like I can visualize the signals and energy it is picking up from stations. I do not watch TV anymore since I got rid of cable, and moved to an apartment with bad reception. We do watch DVDs sometimes, but now I just like to follow some people on YouTube.

    1. If the Mama could get comfortable with the computer, we could quit cable. But, I don't see that happening. She only watches TV a few hours everyday, and likes to fall asleep in front of it at night. So does Molly the Cat, for that matter.

  9. Don't watch much tv, cause of the commercials! Or we catch them later, streaming, w/o commercials.

    1. Sometimes I find myself zoning out during the commercials, snap back at the end and ask the Husband what was that all about, who was either zoning out himself or reading his magazine.
