This Morning

1. The Husband made pancakes. They were the big Y, a.k.a YummY! 2. Molly the Cat kept the Husband company while he cooked. They were so darn cute. 3. Instead of strictly following the instructions on the box, the Husband used 1 cup of water instead of half-a-cup. He liked that the pancakes were less dense. I added, "And more!" 4.  Whenever we talk about his functional cooking skills, The Husband likes to say that he can make tasty scrambled eggs. I'm still waiting after 23 years. In the meanwhile, I'm very happy with his pancakes. Mmmm. 5. I cut several big branches off the Messy Tree, formerly known as the Miracle Tree. Long story short, I was afraid certain branches might fall on the roof should the wind pick up. 6. We've been having a steady rain the last 24 hours or so, from sweet and gentle plops to fast and furious patter. I love it all! 7. What shall I do after I publish this post? Bring in all the boxes marked XMAS Decorations in t

Another Union of Nothingness From Molly & Me

Here we are again, Molly the Cat and I, uniting for another post. MOLLY'S MONDAY #16 Missus Lady asked, "What shall we write about today, Molly?" I flicked my tail. "Aren't you coming up with me?" She slowly climbed up the second set of steps to the upstairs landing. I flicked my tail. "Then I'm just posting photos." I flicked my tail. OFF MY GROOVE That Missy Girl! I appreciate her escorting me up to the first landing. I have no idea where she decided to snooze. Zzzzzzzz, I feel like my head has taken a snooze. It's what happens after I play several rounds of an online word scramble game or do an online jigsaw puzzle or two. Yup, I'm back to doing the puzzles. Two months ago , I swore off doing online puzzles because my fingers locked in Spock's "Live long and prosper" sign. So far, my fingers have been okey-dokey. Knock on wood. I've been having a slow time getting back into blogging, or any kin

Ponderings from Molly and Me

Molly and I are joining forces today because of whatnot and this. Maybe it'll be a regular thing. We shall see.  Missy Girl wants you to know that today's post is also her Molly's Monday #15. Molly the Cat: Speaking of seeing, Missus Lady watched a hummingbird in the front yard yesterday. Szzzzz. Szzzzzz. I love watching hummingbirds, but I missed out because I was napping. "You snoozed, you lost," Missus Lady said when she wouldn't let me go out as she was coming in the front door. Speaking of snoozing, this is what I found when I got back to my desk yesterday evening. The Husband wondered why Missy Girl just didn't go under the table if the light was too much for her. Zzzzzzzzzzz. Did I Say You're a Troll? Molly the Cat: The other day I overheard Missus Lady telling Hero Man about a post she was following at a local Facebook group. There was one part that was miao, miao.  Human #1: Of course you won't believe me. You already think

Friday Musings

This morning I harvested the last of the cherry tomatoes (a couple of handfuls) and pulled out the plants even though they may have produced a couple more handfuls. Missy Molly by Golly inspected my work after I was done. The four volunteer plants gave us several harvests throughout the year. Several friends even went home with some of the tasty red and yellow fruits. Thank you, Tomato Plants! AIR QUALITY The air is still heavy with smoke and residue from the far away fires . Molly and I didn't stay outside too long. It felt good doing a bit of gardening. I'm sure Molly enjoyed being outdoors for a short while, too. We're indoors now with the patio door slightly open to circulate the air, which I'll close once I finish this post. I'm starting to feel a headache brewing. I hardly get headaches. On Wednesday evening I had a doozy of a headache, which I think developed from breathing the air all day while driving with windows open and wandering outside aroun

Molly's Monday #14

Miao, miao. I know it's Tuesday. I know Missus Lady came back to our blog on Sunday, miaoo, and with a new name for out blog. Purrrrrrrr. I told her that I wouldn't write until I got to go outside, if just for a little while. Miao. Hero Man let me go out for a few moments this morning. Purrrrrrr. Since Friday, my humans have kept all the windows and doors shut. They say it is for my good and their good. Miao. The air is awful, they tell me. We live about 240 miles or so south of Paradise where that horrific fire is going on. All those poor people and animals who perished in that fire and the two Southern California fires. Mowwwrrrrr. Missus Lady took this photo yesterday from the car. The Diab lo Ran ge in the background is hardly visible. Missus Lady took this photo of the same spot in January 2017. That man who pretends to be our President doesn't know what he's talking about. Mowrrr! On Saturday, instead of expressing empathy and support, t

A New Blog Title

I hadn't planned on coming back to the blog today, but now that I've changed my header with my new title,  I believe it behooves me to write a few words. Or more. Before I ramble further, Midget the Turtle Elephant wishes me to write that she says, "Hugs, Everyone!" I've thought about renaming my blog for quite a while. Lazily thinking, I was. Then Sports-Editor Dude Friend, sporting a broken foot, tapped his cane as he declared (not in these exact words, but close enough), "No more ladder climbing, Susie. We're too old now. No more." Dear Dude broke his foot when he fell off a ladder while trying to get into his house.  That was several months ago; he is walking fine, the last I saw. Have I forsaken ladders? Shrug. I am the Mama's daughter after all. So, what do you think of my new blog title: Barefoot Susie ? I also considered Young Old Fart and Deadheading Daisies. FYI: I may be making more changes to the blog over the coming days.
