This Morning

1. The Husband made pancakes. They were the big Y, a.k.a YummY!

2. Molly the Cat kept the Husband company while he cooked. They were so darn cute.

3. Instead of strictly following the instructions on the box, the Husband used 1 cup of water instead of half-a-cup. He liked that the pancakes were less dense. I added, "And more!"

4.  Whenever we talk about his functional cooking skills, The Husband likes to say that he can make tasty scrambled eggs. I'm still waiting after 23 years. In the meanwhile, I'm very happy with his pancakes. Mmmm.

5. I cut several big branches off the Messy Tree, formerly known as the Miracle Tree. Long story short, I was afraid certain branches might fall on the roof should the wind pick up.

6. We've been having a steady rain the last 24 hours or so, from sweet and gentle plops to fast and furious patter. I love it all!

7. What shall I do after I publish this post? Bring in all the boxes marked XMAS Decorations in the garage? Open the attic door and see what the Mama hoarded? Start sewing the curtains for the upstairs hallway? Or, none of the above?

8. That's a picture of Gertie the Roller-skating Giraffe. Her cousin is Ghandi, who was featured on the blog earlier this year.

9. Lots of breaking news this morning. Glee! / Cohen lied. / trump? notrump card?

10. I love the sound of rain that reminds me of bacon sizzling.

11. Something for me to look up: Who figured out the breast stroke in swimming? Also, the frog kick? I just stretched my arms out in those two motions. That felt great! as Tony the Tiger might say.

12. I fool myself into thinking that I'm moving around better on my knees, but all it means is that after two years of learning I have no cartilage in my knees, I'm adapting.  The question this chicken (bwak, bwak) needs to answer: Do I want to give up bicycling, hiking, climbing ladders, and wandering about forever?

13. Another thing I loved about this morning—looking out our front window as I ate my yummy pancakes with the Husband, the Best Pancake Chef in this household. Molly the Cat, I'm sure, if she tried, would be Second Best.

Today I'm hanging out at these memes and linky parties. Please check them out. Thank you much, Lovely Hosts!

  1. I love the rain, too. It reminds me of the sound of typing on a computer keyboard.

  2. what fun! Having someone cook for me would make the food taste even better! And Molly is a good snoopervisor keeping an eye or two on dada
Rain, it's a good cleansing thing and thank goodness for it to clear out some smoke. Breathing is a good thing. Thanks for joining up my friend! LeeAnna

  4. Welcome to I Like Thursday! I look forward to it every week, and hope you'll enjoy being part of it, too. Having your hubby make you pancakes sounds lovely, and I love your cat looking on like that! My knees also make strange noises when I try to stretch them in directions they're not used to - but waiting on Medicare before I find out what's going on in there... :)

    1. Thank you, LIttle Penguin Quilts. Medicare kicks in tomorrow for me. First Husband's cataract surgery,, then my cataract, and depending on whether Husband wants his other done, my left knee. So I think.

  5. Howdy! Welcome to the Like Thursday clan! Having your DH make fabulous pancakes sounds wonderful, and Molly the cat looks so cute sitting there watching him. Was she hoping to be offered one, I wonder?! I love the sound of the rain, too. I enjoy watching it fall, and really enjoy being inside when it is happening. Even more, when it's snowing!! So, what did you decide to do after posting today??! Happy Happy Thursday to you!  ~smile~ Roseanne

    1. Thanks, Home Sewn By Us. We discovered that Molly likes syrup, not that she'll get any beyond that one taste she sneaked. I ended up watching a movie with the Husband. By the time it was done, I had no desire to do anything else. That happens a lot.

  6. Rain on the roof it awesome, the only thing that makes it better is when it is on a 160 year old standing seam steel roof. Pancakes, my favorite, I make mine from scratch. Gertie is awesomely cute, and I can barely roller skate with 2 feet let alone 4. Great likes.

    1. My favorite rain sound is the pitter patter on a tin roof, preferably in Hawaii. :-) I can't roller skate at all. So I live vicariously through Gertie.

  7. Welcome to Thursday 13! Thanks for joining us. I like pancakes too but I'm usually to lazy to make them. Also, I know lots of people who've gotten knee replacements and gone on to do the things they enjoy in life, like hiking and such. Maybe something to consider? Good luck to you and thanks again for joining in Thursday 13.

    1. Thank you, CountryDew. I only eat pancakes when the Husband makes them or at a restaurant. Depending on to whom I speak, new knee owners curse the pain of their replacements or sing Hallelujah! about what they can do again. I'm hoping I'll be the latter.

  9. I lost cartilage in one knee and it was painful. After about 6 acupuncture sessions and time, it's almost back to normal! Every day is a reality show news day with Trump, one low after another. I never swim and only do the breast stroke.

    1. That's interesting. I didn't think about acupuncture. The Husband read something about a report showing cannabis may heal arthritis. I started smoking over a year ago to deal with the pain, which has decreased. But, I'm wondering if weed is doing some kind of mending to my cartilage.

  10. Pancakes are a favorite with hubby. I never have them. I think it's because they are sweet with the maple syrup. Sweet and breakfast don't go together for me.

    Your kitty is adorable.

Have a fabulous day and thanks for visiting Comedy Plus. ♥

  13. So glad you're linking up with us over at LeeAnna's! I love your list and it sounds like your pancakes were delicious! I'm glad you didn't fall off the ladder while trimming your branches; I put up Christmas lights last weekend in the midst of a giant wind storm (probably poor planning) and was very very glad when I got to put the ladder away at the end. I hope you enjoy getting out your Christmas decorations!

    1. You deserve a dedicated Christmas decorator pin. My gosh! I almost felt like my old self climbing up and down the ladder, without a spotter. It helped that I could support myself on the tree as I sawed away.

I really only Post on Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays and the other days I try to leave for reviews and giveaways if I have them and sometimes on the weekends. I love your drawings and your humor. 65 is a glorious age when you're given Medicare and SS. I'm a retired Paralegal, but retired at 62 I believe do to Spinal Stenosis and went on disability. Recently I had major surgery done on my back, but I am recooping slowly, but surely. Sure hope you stop by again. I'm now following you hope you'd like to do the same. Have a glorious weekend. 21. I dunno, Molly looks so intent, I think maybe she will be able to cook those pancakes by herself next time (oh, if only she had opposable thumbs). I would rather have someone cook me pancakes than scrambled eggs, no contest. Bill doesn’t cook breakfast, but he makes killer humus and really good tomato soup. And he will go out for dinner anytime I really can’t stand the thought of cooking. I’m happy with that. ... .... what DID you do after you published this post? All the options sounded good, but I really want to know what the Mama kept in that attic.

    1. Being that was several days ago, I don't remember. I definitely did not open the attic door or do the other things I proposed to myself. What happened? I missed that sweet spot in the afternoon where I can get myself to do something different. No doubt when I finally get into that attic, I'll write about it. lol

  22. I had some very tasty cinnamon french toast with ham and eggs for brekkie with my mother who once again complained loudly about them putting potato chips on her plate along side her brunch sandwich. This is her latest thing, complaining about potato chips. Molly doesn't tip over the can when she hops up there? Wonder Cat. That is a photo suitable for framing.
The sound of rain makes me nervous, are all the windows closed, will the water build up and collapse the roof, did I leave the windows in the car open, will it flood and destroy my only car, is the storage room flooding, is my mother's storage room flooding, etc.
When did I stop being fun and turn into such a worry wort. I think that would make a good character, a worrying wort. Hmmm, too gross?
Biking helps my poor old creaky knees, climbing anything and the breast stroke kick are out though. I only use the crawl kick with different strokes or my knees get quit vocal.
Gertie, you'll have better luck off the grass my dear.
I say see what mum was hoarding!

    1. I think if I lived in a place that rained a lot and often too much at a time, I'd be a worry wort, too, about rain. Our rain is probably like minimal rain for you. This is the first year since living here that the banana plants are still flourishing at the beginning of December.. Things may change after next week.
It's a solid garbage can, so we think. The only problem Molly has is when I don't notice she's jumping up just as I open the lid. Poor Baby.
I love biking. My knees don't. The last time I tried, I wussed out after a few seconds. I'm not exaggerating. Poor me.

    2. If you can try a stationary bike, Susie, you might find that will help get the old knee bones in shape. I really ration out my time on the bike but when I have access to a gym bike, it helps a lot.
Poor Molly, but honestly, that is hilarious!
