The Unveiling

Colors,
Oh my!
Vibrant and deep.

Shades of color,
So many
Subtleties.

3D!
My gosh,
Everything has depth.
-- Su-sieee! Mac

This, I tell you, is what I've been experiencing since Friday afternoon when the eye patch was removed from my left eye. Oh my gosh! What will it be like when the cataract is removed from my other eye and a corrected lens inserted. Oh me, oh my!

And, now I can add my pirate photo to that of the Husband's and our dads. Daddy's cataract was removed in the late 1960s, way before the procedure of inserting an intraocular lens was a thing. No doubt, he would've loved having his sight fully back in his left eye.

Arrrrr, mateys!

Come check out one, two, or all three of these memes with me: All Seasons, Mosaic Monday, and Say Cheese. Many thanks to the hosts, Jesh,  Angie, and Jenna.

  1. My husband had both cataract and cornea operations (spread out over quite a few years) so he had lots of opportunities to play the pirate. - Margy

  2. Oh so glad to know all went well and you are seeing deeply again ;))). (And sharing the beautiful pictures.). Hooray. Back when our dads had their “eyes done” it was major surgery. I remember both Bill’s and mine had to lie flat for a number of days. Thank goodness they improved before it was our turn.

    1. I'm forcing myself to slow down, do less, and let the Husband fetch, lift, and carry things a lot more. Dr. Eye told me not to lift anything 10 pounds or more for a week or so. Missy Molly doesn't get why I won't give her a ride to her dinner table.

  3. Oh my that is huge and you look damn sexy with an eye patch. Did it hurt, is it still sore? Have you scared the cat and do you now use the term, "Arrgg!" every chance you get?

    1. Sexy, huh? Merci beaucoup. I get to wear the eye patch at night time so I won't poke or rub my eye while I sleep. This morning I woke up with it off but all the tape still around my eye. The Husband instantly got up, searched for it, and firmly reattached the patch to my eye while I laid (lyed? lied?) in bed like a diva. He did tell me yesterday to let him do more. So I did. Arrrrrr.

  4. I'm so happy for you! I know you are glad to have it done and to be able to see things better. Take care! I hope things heal quickly! Hugs!

  5. Am happy for you tat it's done Sallie, and you can see 'deep' again:) I have heard from a friend that "it feels "tight" the first week, not it does not seem to hurt. Healing now goes so much faster. The eye patch was removed after one week, and that was it! And granted, you don't look bad at all with an eye patch:):) Happy you were ready to share this with All Seasons! Have a relaxed week:).

    1. Now that my excitement has settled down, I can feel the soreness in the eye. "Tight" is a good description for it. My other eye is tired. It was the dominant eye so most likely overcompensated for my left eye (the one done). It's going to take awhile for me to get used to seeing me sans eyeglasses. :-)

  6. ...now matey, I had cataract surgery on both eyes back in 2018 and they didn't give me an eye patch. I feel cheated! Enjoy your week.

    1. Thank you, riita k! I've worn eyeglasses for over 50 years. I never thought I'd ever go without them or contact lenses.

  9. I had cataracts removed form both my eyes a few years ago and loved seeing bright colors again! Unfortunately, i developed secondary cataracts afterward and had to have laser procedure to remove that--it was "cells" left behind that recollected on my eye's lenses. The laser worked well and I can see clearly again.

  10. Great! My doctor says I'll need cataracts removed before too long. It makes me a bit nervous.

    1. The Husband, friends, and others who had the surgery kept telling me I'll love the results and that the actual procedure is a snap. They were right, but still I was so nervous I cried just before the Husband drove me to the hospital. Better to let out the nervousness than keep it bottled, I say.
