At the moment, I’m one of those old retired people who get up just before sunrise and do a bunch of stuff before breakfast. This morning I did a load of laundry, pruned more dead branches off a woody rose bush, washed a bucket full of flat stones, planted geranium vine cuttings, and weeded the Husband’s Three Sisters patch. All within two hours. I’ve also been dawdling for the past two hours at the breakfast table. Fun!
So, what will I do for the rest of the day? There are many possibilities.
- Paint a few planters
- Read about estate planning.
- Dust and vacuum upstairs.
- Find the bags of dried rose hips and plant some in pots.
- Pick fruit up high on the avocado tree.
- Reorganize the collection of stuff I use for making greeting cards.
- Pull fabric scraps together for a patchwork tablecloth.
- Write a letter to a friend.
- File last year’s receipts.
- Fill in my passport application.
- Draft the second story about Daddy.
- Experiment with making concrete sculptures.
- Do research at Ancestry.com.
Thursday 13 is a fun weekly meme I like to take part in. You can check out more participants here.
What did we ever do before we were retired and can do whatever we want? It astounds me how much a day fills up and sometimes I feel like a housewife for the first time ever...married to my house!
ReplyDeletePrecisely how I feel, Colleen! Fun!
DeleteI am easily distracted, too.
ReplyDeleteThank goodness for distractions, especially when it comes to vacuuming, lol.
DeleteOh you are so ambitious. I too get up just before sunrise. In my extra two hours before breakfast, I crack open my IPAD on which I do a crossword puzzle, play Wordle, read some news and gossip, play some other word games..... then the two of us enjoy a leisurely breakfast while reading the news to each other. Then I consider my to-do list, which I treat about like you do -- maybe I will, maybe I won't.
ReplyDeleteLife is grand!
DeleteThat looks like my list. Well, not the things on it, but I keep a checklist of things I should do. Some of them have been on my list for months...
ReplyDeleteYep, sometimes years. This week, we finally bought a patio umbrella and base. Only took us two days to take them out of their boxes and assemble it. hahah
DeleteI like #14: "Or, none of them at all. It’s easy for me to be distracted." That is SO me! It's not so much lack of energy as lack of focus (or drive).
ReplyDeleteOr something that we’re really not ready to do, lol.
DeleteWhat an ambitious list!
ReplyDeleteIt is so easy, especially this time of year to get distracted. :)
I’m happy to say I can check off #5 and #13 Hurrah!
DeleteAncestry is pretty lacking on information unless you're willing to pay 🤑🤑🤑
