Here We Are in March!

March, march, march to my own drum. A congo drum, please.

It's a gorgeous California no-rain-in-sight early Spring (late Winter, if you prefer) day. I would be playing outdoors in the dirt right now if I hadn't wrenched my good knee on Friday. Maybe wrenched isn't the correct word, but the pain certainly matches the word.

I stepped sideways on uneven ground in the front yard to show the Husband something when my left knee buckled. A chicken leg being snapped at its joint flashed through my head.  I am very glad to report that my sense of decorum and appropriate behavior are still intact: I did not scream out in pain nor utter a curse word for the whole street to hear. Indoors, another story.

Before that all happened, I was playing in the yard, deadheading, raking, trimming, planting, and doing all kinds of fun things. At one point, a robin flew into the ornamental pear tree and we had a pleasant time hanging out. The robin even let the Husband join us. We wondered whether he was part of the robin family that comes back every Spring. Tweet, tweet.

It's time for Mosaic Monday. Come check out other bloggers with me, if you please.

  1. You didn't yelp and swear?!? With that kind of injury, there's nothing wrong with letting the neighborhood know of your discomfort. Ouch. Hope you're healing up.

    1. Swearing and yelping would go with being one of the two eccentrics living on the street. lol

  2. Su-sieeemac - sorry to hear about your knee. It is the one part of my body that I worry about -- lots of running, hiking, skiing -- they probably will give out before anything else. And you are a better person than I not to cry out!!! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday - the robins have yet to show up in these parts. Too much snow on the ground!

    1. With this setback, I’m closer to agreeing to have knee replacements. I would like to backpack and hike again. Also, ride bicycles. Cheers to you and your knees, Angie! :-)

  5. As I'm currently nursing an ache-y knee, (slept awkwardly) I feel for you. Hope it's better soon, but not too soon to stop the Husband and Miss Molly-by-Golly from fussing over you. :)

    1. So far no complaints today. I'm being good about using the cane or crutches to help me about. :-)

  6. If we weren't in Florida with the alligators I'd be feeding the woodstove and looking for my wool sox. March is hopeful though!

    1. I put my wool socks on this morning. It's bright and sunny, but chilly. Probably the last hurrah of winter.

  7. Nice mosaic - the Robin is so cute. Hope you feel better about your knee sooner. From now on, don’t excessively load the knee joint, as the ability of joint cartilage to repair itself declines as we grow older, and build up muscle on your thigh.. I learned it when I injured my knee. Take care.

  8. Oh bummer on the darn knee. Our daughter broke her ankle in January in much the same way...just out in the yard checking on something the dog was barking at... and one wrong step! She still can’t really go outside and work in the yard and now that the weather is better, it is really hard on her. I hope you heal way way faster... your yard is lovely.

    1. Ouch! I'm thankful I didn't break anything. I hope the weather guys are right and a week of rain starts tomorrow. That will keep me from wanting to go outside.

  10. Oh your poor thing. I hope you knee is on the mend quickly. So difficult to be laid up when we want to be out and about. Can't believe it is March already. You must be coming into spring, as we start autumn. Take care, enjoy the rest of your week, and thank you for stopping by my blog this week.

    1. How does that poem go: March came in like a lion, whipping up the water in the bay? Or is that from a song in Sound of Music? Anyway, the wind was certainly howling and shaking yesterday. I was happy to be inside. :-)

  11. Oh no! How is the knee, because that sounds extremely painful.

    1. I've discovered today one of the movements that causes the knee to cry out in pain. I must lift my foot when I pivot. Hmmm, how's that going to affect my dancing.
