Coming Soon!

Soon the view won't be so fair from this part of Fairview Road. Over 800 houses are in the process of being built there.  We've got developments growing all around our town. The not-so-affordable houses replace the orchards and truck farms. My stomach turns every time I drive by a development.

  1. We have the same thing going on our county. So many farms lost to developments.

    1. I would mind less if the developers planted a tree with each house.

  2. Oh no! So sad. We took a drive out in the country west of town today ... not so many developments (yet?) but an awful lot of what used to be truck farms has been turned into wineries and vineyards... we must have seen 20 of them! Nobody’s growing food any more, but between the wine and the pot growers, I guess people won’t care .

    1. A good one, Sallie. Pot and wine. It's been at least 20 years since we visited Eugene. The first time we drove east from the coast. That was a fun drive, so green and rustic. Just thinking about it, brings me back to when I was young wandering in the fields around our house.

  3. I know how you feel, here in the UK housing developments are being built in areas of green space and swallowing up the countryside - very annoying and upsetting when old mills and other buildings closer to the towns are being demolished but the land left derelict for years when it could be used for housing instead of using the green fields :(

    1. I feel for you, Eunice. I wonder how many of the old buildings were sturdy and sure and could've been repurposed into residences or business.

  4. Sigh. Too many open spaces being swallowed up by home development.

  5. Oh, no. We once bought a house in a lovely area. The land behind our property was wooded. Then most of the trees were cut down in favor of a gravel pit. We heard the machinery all day.

    Love,

  6. We hit our recycling depot every couple of months and each time we drive along the beautiful mountainous road there's always another subdivide going up . . . too many humans. :(

    1. I wish the houses would at least be affordable.

  7. Yes, I understood very well. For the one, the families needs a home, on the other side more and more nature are lost.
    Have a good new week.

    Stay healthy and well.
