The Latest Obsession

I can't stop now.

There are 1,000 jigsaw puzzle pieces sitting on our dining table. When all the pieces interlock, we'll have a 24x30-inch picture of a tapestry of a mosaic cat.

Gahhh!

I've turned every piece then grouped them according to color and design. Yeah, I impressed myself too with such organization. lol And, I have one edge complete. Do you think I could quit now?

Committed, I am. haha

A friend gave us this puzzle about three or four years ago. Our excuse for keeping the puzzle box shut is the lack of sufficient space. Surfaces don't stay clutter-free for long in this house. Last week I got a very strong yen to assemble a jigsaw puzzle. Some of you may recall I've forbidden myself to do online jigsaw puzzles. I tell you there are moments I'm on the computer when I'm sooooo tempted, then I think "Live long and prosper". If you're curious about all that, read this past post.

The Husband probably wished he hadn't agreed to me using the kitchen table. Who knows how long I'll be at it? He had to move himself and his stuff over one seat. Me, having more stuff than the Husband, can't sit at my spot.

What was I thinking?

  1. Did you know there are jigsaw puzzle keepers? I'm not sure what to call them. It's a big cardboard thing that you can close up when you're putting the thing away for the night (or a couple days) while you're working on it. I got one because I have the same problem--no place to store it.

Have fun with the puzzle. I think doing a physical one is so much nicer than doing it digitally.

    1. Those puzzle keepers can be expensive, wowza. The Husband remarked that we'd then need to find a place to store. So logical, that man.

  2. I like doing puzzles too. I usually have one to get me through the holiday season. The time between Christmas and New Year's when I don't feel like doing much.

    1. I notice my brain works differently when I do word puzzles rather that jigsaw puzzles.

  3. I was never good at the real puzzles. I had some fun with electronic ones.

    1. I thought that about myself, too. Was I surprised when I found out how good I am with cryptic puzzles.

  4. it's fun isn't it??? that's what you were thinking. Fun. I do online puzzles, and the difference is they orient them correctly. I LOVE jigsaw puzzles, but now do the ones of quilts on jigsawplanet. Everywhere I look, even in our larger home, has cluttered horizontal surfaces. I like stuff apparently... or am lazy... or a hoarder... or just want my stuff nearby.

    1. Yes, it is fun. A different kind of fun from coloring. I think it appeals to my anal-retentive nature, as the Husband would agree. better with jigsaw puzzles then in housekeeping.

  5. How about one of those old-fashioned folding card tables? We have one, it's not very strong but for a jigsaw it just needs to be a flat surface.

    1. The Husband thinks we might have his parent's cardboard table in our storage locker. I hope so. Once I get over half of this puzzle completed, I'm taking over the whole dining table.

  6. Have you ever just started pounding a piece in until it fits?
