"How do you get brown?" asked I, standing outdoors at the patio door.
"Mix green and blue," responded the Husband, washing dishes about 20 feet away.
As I walked back to my temporary work table beneath the Miracle Tree, I realized I would have to first mix blue and yellow to get green. Sigh.
Several hours later, when the Husband stopped, I showed him the rock I was painting.
"The brown looks like dirt."
Accomplishment achieved!
Today is Our World Tuesday, where I'm participating. Here's the link. Grazie, OWT administrators.
Thanks!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to oblige, Cloudia, for whatever it was. :-)
DeleteGreen and blue via yellow and blue, I wouldn't have guess brown, but I'm not sure I've down that on purpose before. Remember when you were a kid and had to mix allll of the colors? That's pretty cool, it looks like mountains and flowers and fields and sky.
ReplyDeleteI still do mix all the colors, lol, which is my problem for coming up with colors that are muted or pastel-like. Glad you liked the scene, Jeana. Grazie.
DeleteYeah, brown is hard. It's like three colors together as opposed to two.
ReplyDeleteI haven't found the combo for dark brown. Tan, beige I got that down. I think it's time for me to read something about mixing colors. Right now I get off my stool and go find the Husband to ask him what together gives me what.
DeleteI thought green and blue would give you blue-green.
ReplyDeleteIt depends on the amounts, I think. You've got me curious. Guess what I'm going to experiment the next time.
DeleteColor mixing is always fun
ReplyDeleteIt certainly is. I'm messy so I shall stick to mixing acrylic paints for artsy-craftsy projects.
DeleteThanks, Lady Fi!
ReplyDeleteBut green is already a mixture between blue and yellow ! lol !
ReplyDeletelol, yeah I know. That's what I get for not having already made tubes of green.
DeleteSometimes I find I need to mix colors when I do cake decorating but usually no one is around to ask. I used to know these things like a mom supposed to when the kids were small but anymore not so much. That's okay, I have Google to pull me out of scrap. It sounds like your color combining efforts paid off in spades. :D
ReplyDeleteHow cool rockart! I met another blogger bud who's into this sort of thing and in recent months I saw painted rocks in a store somewhere. I have the purrrfect rock I'd like to do something on just as soon as I think of design and figure out what's needed to create my first rockart.. :)
Thanks for stopping by yesterday to visit my late and early Scribble Picnic contribution. After sharing and realizing the 'chicken' prompt is not until next week I'm working on sketch that picture all over using the photo of the swinging bridge I was too chicken to cross when I was a kid. :)
Have a good day. I'm up early not because I want to be but because I'm doing my last stage of my bowel prep for my colonoscopy later in the morning but definitely before the chickens get up. :)
I have yet to learn not to make too much paint so I reach for rocks to use up the paint. Waste not, want not. lol
DeleteI checked out Scribble Picnic and have already started thinking about what to do with the prompt. Bwak, bwak. I'm seeing yellows, browns, and reds that I'd like to use.
May the colonoscopy be an easy-peasy thing for you. Take care, Cathy.
To get dark brown, chuck a little bit of black into the mix ... but just a little bit though. :)
ReplyDeleteAll right! Thanks, Widders. I'm looking forward to seeing the magic take place.
DeleteThat’s a good colour brown. When I was a kid, I wanted to make a candle with all the colours swirled together. I took my crayons and put them in a pot thinking the colours would just swirl nicely, I got one ugly brown candle
ReplyDeletelol, But you at least tried it, I wouldn't have got that far.
