Eliza Doalot Sparkles Now

The Husband and I cannot recall the last time Eliza Doalot had her last bath. Pouring rain last winter didn't clean her. As of yesterday, Eliza is clean. Inside, too. Ha!

As we were vacuuming and dusting the insides, I thought how Mama would've shown great pleasure to see Eliza sparkle sparkle on the driveway. Mama was always after us to wash the car. Our excuse for not washing the car was "It's a drought. We don't want to waste the water."

Yesterday was Mama's birthday. A shiny Eliza Doalot was the perfect birthday present to honor the memory of Mama.

  1. Mom had a big Buick as her last car. She drove until 90 then she gave me the car to drive for her. That lasted another seven years. We called her Bertha as in Big Bertha. Bertha was a tank of a car but served well to carry Mom in the front seat with her wheelchair in the back. Bertha met a deer on a back road. It was just a glancing blow but she never drove the same after that. It was hard to trade Bertha in, but her repairs would have cost more than her value. Sadly we said goodbye to Bertha in a car lot. I always dream of her getting a new life, but I'm pretty sure she became scrap metal. Even so, she may be living again in another form even in another country. - Margy

    1. No doubt Bertha is living in various forms around the world. Your story would make for a fun and wonderful children's picture book.

    1. I had begun to think the grime was embedded and wondered what colors to paint the various spots.

  4. I'm terrible at washing my car, too. I put it off until I can't stand it anymore. And then I put it off for another week.

    1. lol. This just might be Eliza's last wash in her present day color. Waves of silliness have started popping up to get the paints and doodle on her.

  5. We too are among the ‘only when you have to and then keep putting it off’’ crowd when it comes to this chore. I know The Mama is happy with the gift!

    1. Hey, Sallie! I can hear the non-conversation between Mama and Daddy as they look down at Husband and me cleaning away. Mama doesn't say anything, simply nods approval. Daddy chuckles.

  6. We put off washing ours too, until it's due to go into the dealership to be serviced, and they wash it for us ... a once-every-six-months carwash. :)
