Eden Hills Friday's Hunt

This week's topics for Friday's Hunt, hosted by Teresa of Eden Hills are:
1.  Starts with D  2. Week's Favorite  3. Summer or Winter

My favorite photo captures the other two topics, too. It shows the dense fog coming over the ridge, which happens on many late summer afternoons. It's a good thing. Otherwise, we'd be burning up. I can't stand hot temperatures.

The photo also shows the denseness of commute traffic in my neck of the woods. Yes, yes. it's not really thick compared to what goes on in cities. Believe me, in my rural area, people go crazy when the line of traffic is this long at the signal light for which we're stopping.

  2. Interesting to see such dense fog as it moves in. I am all too familiar with traffic backups. Where we live, it requires a tunnel or bridge to get under/over the water to get to other cities. Multi-lane highways bottleneck into two lanes, and heaven forbid there's an accident or disabled vehicle. I guess we'd all rather be on our way than having to wait.

    1. I'm thankful that I haven't had to commute in decades.

    1. Thanks. Hot here, too, also overcast from a big fire in the next county.

  5. Wow, that is very dense fog that is rolling in. Keeps the temps down a bit, which must be a relief.

    1. A big relief, Claire. We're fortunate that the mountain range separating us from the coast is low so that the ocean breeze and fog creeps in.

  6. Great shot!!! Love the context, and yes I live in a rural area and yes even I get impatient when there are a few cars in front of me at a light...lol...

    1. Thanks! I admit that I grumble at a certain 4-way stop on our main street at times.

  7. I love your fog pictures, Susie. We, me driving, from Anaheim to Fresno through solid fog for over an hour. Driving 80+ we didn't dare lose sight of the tail lights of the car ahead of or we might have crashed.
The was another time we were glad that I use my left foot for braking.

    1. That's tule fog, Jim! I dred driving in that kind of fog especially in the Central Valley. Driving a standard is still the best in my mind, even though I've driven automatic for nearly 2 decades now. Funny how I think of what I've done in terms of decades rather than years.

    1. Yup, fog. What's cool is to go up on the high peak (towards the left of the photo) and watch it swirl in beneath you.

  9. This is an amazing photo. I think of it like some disaster film where people are trying to escape that fog creeping towns them. Great photo!

  10. Fog in the afternoon? Here we sometimes get it in the morning. I can't ever recall it in the afternoon. The traffic here drives me nuts. I get so tired of waiting for two or three lights. Timing is everything. When school starts I won't even go out after 3:00 in the afternoon.

    1. During heat waves, I look forward to the sight of fog over the mountain ridge. I've noticed that the stay-at-home folks come out for their walks, bike rides, and runs after 9 a.m. during school days.

  11. Great image! The fog coming in is just amazing. I would consider that bad traffic. Of course, where I live, most traffic jams involve a tractor. LOL Thanks so much for joining in Friday's Hunt. Hope you have a great week!

    1. We get a tractor traffic jam now and then. I love those. It gives me a chance to look around.

  12. You captured all that well, I haven't stopped to get some of the fog caused by the relentless heat and humidity of the past week, wish I had. I think that's long enough to warrant a little irritability.
