Xanadu

Santa Ana Valley

We use the term Xanadu to refer to "an idealized place of great or idyllic magnificence and beauty".  So, today, I'm posting photos of the real paradise where the Husband, the Mama, Molly the Cat, and I live—Hollister, California, our Xanadu.

  1. I love that garden, it looks gorgeous. I wish mine was like that but sadly I don't have green fingers - and I don't like slugs and worms :(

    1. Yuck to slugs, but, yay! to worms. They make the difference. I won't touch them tough. shudder. A hand shovel works well for me.

  2. These are beautiful pictures and I love how you manipulated them to look like an impressionist painting. It's true...we should appreciate our own back door.

    1. Thanks, Birgit. I enjoy painting with Photoshop. The filters can turn an uninteresting photo into an exciting one.

    1. It could use a bookstore. I am able, though, to get my bookstore fix at the thrift shops and the books sales at the library. :-)

    1. When I returned over 12 years ago, I didn't realize how much I missed the open space. Funnily, what I took to be hills as a kid, are actually mountains. lol
