Putting Things in Perspective

Lately, I find myself whispering, "I'm an old person."

I snicker. I chuckle. I laugh out loud.

I shake my head. Am I not dreaming?

I shake my head. I am in awe that I'm actually old.

I shrug it off. I put it in perspective. The Mama is over 30 years older than me.

And, you know where she is right now. Playing in her garden.

  1. Do you find it as strange as I do when I realize that I am old, but so thankful to be here. My blessed momma died at age 56. So already I've lived 19 years longer than she did, God rest her soul. I love the happy look on the two of you. Have a great weekend!

    1. Sometimes I think it's surreal how old I am as I don't think I'm in my 60s. I suppose, 60 year olds thought the same way when I was in my 30s. Have a wonderful weekend, too, Norma. :-)

  2. Susie,

That is such a beautiful photo! I sometimes ponder the fact I'm getting 'old'. I always end up feeling very silly I've wasted so much time thinking about my age. Although many younger people might think I'm a bit 'old', I'm not. Like the Mama, I hope to keep playing for a long time yet. (I won't be playing in my garden because I can't keep plants alive!) I also hope I can spend many more years with my children, like you and your mother.

    1. Sue, I'm sure you and your children will be enjoying each other for years to come. You know what's so funny, Sue, about being old. I am now one of the older ladies to whom young people give a thumbs up.

  4. Oh what a great photo and you look like your mom. I can feel very old especially when my mom can move faster than me even though she now has a walker. I guess the best is to say I am as young in mind as my mom. So are you because your mom is often in the garden that she loves

    1. Young in mind and spirit is what keeps us young and keeping the old in body at bay. I resemble more the Daddy than the Mama. The Mama says I look a lot like Lola Julia, who is her aunt, so I think the Mama's side is popping out a lot more as I age. Fine with me. I like both sides of the family.

    1. Thanks, Ann. Of course I don't feel that way when the Mama and I are having a tiff. :-)

  6. I'm nearly 57 and some days I feel ancient, but mostly it's, like I'm just getting started! :)
