X-ray Vision

My ABC Wednesday theme: The Mama and Her Authentic
Green Thumbs. . .and Fingers
The Mama doesn't drive anymore because she can't pass the eye test for her driver's license. (Thank goodness for that.) She gets annoyed with night and dimly lit scenes in movies on the TV because she can't quite make out what's going on, no matter how bright we make the monitor. But, in her garden, the mad horticulturist has x-ray vision, with a side of radar.

Do I see that lone, lemon leaf in the middle of the geraniums? Of course not. The Mama does.

Do I see the banana blossom sprouting within the banana grove? Nope. The Mama does.

Do I see that big chayote hanging in the midst of the miracle tree? Uh-uh. The Mama does.

It's the letter X at ABC Wednesday, a meme began by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt and today hosted by Roger Green and his ABC team. Click here to check out other X posts by bloggers around the world.

  1. My mother was the same-complain about a dark restaurant but could see a small black dot at 20 ft

  2. The Mama is a true gardener, who's in tune with the plants she loves and cares for. Blessings!

    1. So true. Every few weeks, she digs out a patch of Philippine onions because their leaves are lying on the ground. She says it's because the bulbs have grown too big and crowding each other. So she harvests some of the tiny bulbs for us to eat and replants the rest, sometimes starting two patches in her garden.

  3. She most certainly is in tune with her garden.

    1. She'd be at a loss without her garden. I've seen it happen once. Not pretty at all.

    1. They never get beyond the size of fingers. Nor do they get ripe because of the weather. Sometimes we eat the blossoms.

  5. Yes, you can say that your mother only has eyes for the garden!

  7. Hi Susie,.
I think, as well as The Mama having X-Ray
vision, I think she also has, ESP (Extra Sensory Perception), in other words, a sixth sense.
her knowledge of plants and trees and so on seem to built into her senses so she just knows instinctively where everything goes in her garden, thus sensing when something is in the wrong place, be it a leaf or stone!
    Such an extraordinary Mama,
    Best wishes,
    Di,

    1. Di, the Mama does have ESP. She can sense spirits. It used to freak me out. Well, it still does, if I allow myself, too. And since I'm such a scaredy cat and it's night, I won't say anything any further about that topic.

    1. One time when I was a brash young thing, the Mama said to me that should I turn out to be a silly, stupid, horrible woman, she'd haunt me when she died. I scoffed back then. In hindsight, I believe I heeded that threat.

    2. She's probably going to do it anyway, but at least it'll be a benign haunting.

    3. Hopefully, she'll have too much fun where ever she is to even do a benign one. Unless that's part of her fun.

  9. Susie,

I remember my grandmother getting very frustrated because of her failing eyesight. There came a time when she was unable to knit and crochet, both activities she really enjoyed. So glad to hear the Mama can still see the things which are the most important to her!

    1. She would definitely like to drive again, even if it's around the block. I would miss seeing words should my eyesight fail. Knock on wood that it doesn't ever.
