Howwwwwwlllll!

The full moon was up in the sky when the sun rose this morning. Click. Delightful!

This was the second month in a row the moon stayed up to watch the sunrise. And, by good fortune, I saw it both times.

In some cultures, the January full moon is called the Wolf Moon because the wolves would howl in hunger during this season. We have no wolves here, but we did hear some amazing howling winds during our recent first winter storm.

  1. Did you get the Santa Anas, too? I do not like gusty winds.

    1. I don't know. It seems that winds came from every direction but the east. I could be wrong. Fortunately for us we have new fences all around. Otherwise we would be putting up new ones.

    1. Hi, Eileen. I know the moon is supposed to look the same from wherever we are. Still I wonder if that's really so. :-)

  4. Lovely colours in the sky. I'm not sure about the howling winds though, I think I'd prefer the wolves :-)

    1. I wonder if that's where the idea of Wolf Man came from.

  6. I didn’t get to see the moon when it was full, I’m usually asleep by then. I wake up around 4 AM every day

    1. I wonder why it is in some months it takes longer for the moon to set.

    1. Thanks, Diane. :-) Last year we heard coyotes howling around the full moon. That was cool, but spooky!
