A Little of This and That

Can I get a "cute"?

How could I resist showing off that photo of Molly the pinky-nosed (wild) Cat's recent cuteness.

So, what kind of little of this, little of that have you been doing while staying at home?

This afternoon I made a delectable dish of creamy brown rice and mushed red lentils that I savored slowly, the way I do with desserts. Sure I'll combine brown rice, lentils, fresh garlic, kim chee, and eggs again, but the exquisite taste (there I go floating) won't ever get repeated, even if I knew the amounts I used.  Oh well, c'est la vie. :-)

Clackity clack clack clackity clack clack. . . . I've been sewing covers for the outside pillows. See the top two pillows. The covers were made from Mama's nightgowns that she liked but hardly wore. Must wear out the old stuff first you know. The fabric of the flowered pillow on the bottom is from the Husband's mom's stash. I wonder what she was going to do with the upholstery quality material. There was about 3 or 4 yards, from which I sewed covers for two pillows and two chairs. The green and white striped fabric is leftover from my sewing mania days in the 1990s.

Sewing zippers is like driving on a steep cliff without any guardrails. Gulp. Gulp. Sweaty palms. Someone tell me sewing a zipper is easy-peasy.

I'm still doing the online Sketchbook Revival Workshop. The collage shows what I've done so far. On the right is my quirky bird who thinks it's truly an elephant. At the top left are doodles that started with a smeared blob of paint. Smear paint, turn the paper around until you see something then outline it.

Mister Green Face evolved from a cross drawn in a circle. Next to him is a sketch I drew with my non-dominant hand. I don't recall which one was created during a portrait session. In that session I discovered I'm not interested in drawing real-life faces. Good to know.

I saw the first apple blossom  on the green apple tree yesterday.  Yippieeeeee!

  1. Su-sieeemac! Molly is CUTE with a capital C. Did you ask her to pose with the flower? Funny you mention savoring food. Since we have been in isolation, I have been trying to slow down when I am eating and really enjoy it. So glad you have an apple blossom. We have several weeks to a month before I can expect that! Thanks so much for linking to Mosaic Monday, my friend. Stay well!

    1. I lucked out getting that photo of Missy Girl. :-) She doesn't like me taking photos of her. Click, click, click. After 8 years, you'd think she'd be used to it. :-) You, too, Angie, stay well!

    1. Thanks, Eileen. I like how all of a sudden bare branches are full of blossoms. Soon, I'll be surprised with them full of leaves.

    1. Cool, Eunice! It looks like I have enough of the fabric on the bottom left to cover the top of a hassock. I'm hoping I can simply staple the fabric to the top.

  7. The green face kinda looks like a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle. As for zippers, they scare me. I put one on a knit sweater once. I didn't like how it turned out.

    Yes, Molly is very cute.

    1. hahaha, Micelangelo, Leonardo, Raphael, and ??? Was there a fourth one?
I'm impressed that you sewed a zipper on a knitted item. It's hard enough on cotton. So I think.

  8. Miss Molly is the absolute cutest-est!!! . . . Sewing zippers is tricky, so don't let 'em get the upper hand! . . . once you get the hang of it, they're not so bad. :)

  9. Hello Susie, you are on a roll with those pillow covers. Yeah, it has been ages since i sewed in a zipper! Great you're continuing the drawing Sketchbook. You will see, some good things will come out of that, when you expect it the least:) Last year i knitted my first socks from the toe up. This month i am trying out the socks from leg down - much harder! But since most patterns go by the last one, thought I should at least try:)
I remember your bike - is that how you saw the apple blossom? - wow that is really early in the year. Beautiful!
Many thanks for keeping All Seasons up to date with your creative projects:) Have a comfortable zippy week, Jesh

    1. The apple blossom is on an apple tree in the backyard. We've two apple trees. This one produces green apples while the other gives us red ones. They were mighty tasty last year.
I love how you challenge yourself when you knit. It reminds me that there's always more than one way to do something. Yup.

    1. Me either. I've made pillow coverings, which I think are different from pillow cases. With pillow cases, you have an opening. Easier. Now, I wonder why I don't sew pillow cases.
