A public phone!
That's right, shades of the pre cell phone days. A telephone book (yellow pages only) was even attached to it. Oh my.
Did it work? Beats us. The Husband and I paid attention to that sign above the payphone.
Today is sharing time at Our World Tuesday. Check it out here. Thanks, Our World Tuesday hosts!
They are quite rare these days. It most likely works.
ReplyDeleteIt looked clean which impressed me, but I'm glad we carry a cell phone when we wander. The Husband said he looked in the change thingy.
DeleteAn anachronism. Did you check for chrono-anomalies nearby? Maybe a time traveller in the vicinity?
ReplyDeleteThere was a laundromat next door advertising alterations. If there were time travelers, that I'm certain they would be.
DeleteNo loitering, how are yo supposed to make a phone call without standing there? I can't remember the last time I saw a phone like that, especially with the phone book still attached. But I've seen some red phone booths looking all fancy British at an outdoor mall. However, I haven't seen anyone use one of them since...I don't know, the 80's maybe?
ReplyDeleteExsctly! This was the first intact payphone I've seen in a long while. Mostly I see the stands without phones. I wonder what the telephone company did with them.
DeleteWOW!!! ... the sign is a hoot though. :)
ReplyDeleteI couldn't get over how high it was. It's almost like the police wants to catch folks yakking on the phone. Maybe it's Candid Camera.
DeletePhoto is awesome ~ how times change ~ huh? ~ Hubby is sweet!
ReplyDeleteHappy Times to you,
A ShutterBug Explores
aka (A Creative Harbor)
Thanks, Carol. Yes, he is. :-)
DeleteIf I were you, I would be expecting a call from Candid Camera, or maybe America's Funniest Home Videos ...
ReplyDeletehahahaha
