Despite the cold temperatures and lack of rain, the first of the wildflower blooms have appeared in the front yard. This morning, Molly the Cat and I saw a cosmos (upper left corner), lupine (upper right corner), and California poppy (lower right corner). They're all volunteers from last year's plantings.
Also presenting itself is the first freesia (lower left corner) of the season. Not sure, but I think they're from bulbs that got planted last fall. These flowers have a light fragrance. Mmmmmmmm.
It is so nice seeing the flowers. The poppy looks fake..looks ceramic. It just shows how amazing flowers really are
ReplyDeleteI wonder if the poppy feels it must look all perfect because it's the first to bud in the yard. :-)
DeleteOoo - how pretty!
ReplyDeleteWe're so fortunate.
DeleteHow nice to welcome the first spring flowers and such pretty ones at that.

So true. I love that they are gracing our home.
DeleteWe've gotten better weather here, felt like spring the next two days
ReplyDeleteGreat! While you're starting to feel Spring, we're getting a touch of winter in the air.
DeleteClever little flowers! ... in the last 24 hours we've had 35-40cm (12-16")snow! I'm thinking that any flowers around here that were planning on making an early entrance just re-evaluated their plans!. :)
ReplyDeleteI wonder what flowers do when the weather is not right for them to burst forth. I hope they just go back to sleep and chill out.
DeleteLupines are some of my favorites, especially when there are several of them planted in one bed! Can't imagine blooming flowers given the deep snow outside my window!
ReplyDeleteIt seems like everyone is having snow but us. I can't recall the last time we had snow on the low mountain peaks around us about this time. The lupines popped in last year. I thank the birds for dropping the seeds.
