Five Things this Morning

  1. I woke up this morning to Janis Joplin singing Me and Bobby Mcgee. . . . "Freedom's just another word for nothing left to lose. . ."
  2. I've soaked six of the Mama's bittermelon seeds and will put them into the ground on Tuesday. The Mama started seeds in late March to plant in early May. Maybe it's too late for the seeds to take. Maybe not.
  3. My To Do lists keep multiplying.
  4. Yesterday I got three boxes full of river rocks that a lovely woman in town was giving away. Her sister picked up the rocks from our local river bed. The boxes are still in the trunk. Have no idea yet what I shall do with them
  5. The Husband and I wandered around the motorcycle rally in town, listening to the bands and watching the crowds. Vrrroom-vrooom.

  1. I see paths and gardens lined with river rock in your future!

    1. Yesterday, I took them out of the trunk and edged them around the tree in the front yard. They look pretty cool there. Molly the Cat thought so, too.

  2. Hello, I like that song too. I agree, making paths or creating pieces of art with them. Enjoy your day and 4th of July weekend.

  4. Great song to wake up to. I bet you those seeds will grow and prosper and it looks like you and your hubby had a great time. As for to do lists...they always grow that's what makes it fun...most of the time.

    1. Hmmm, that's what I need to do. Change my attitude. Find the fun in the ever growing lists. A couple of beers while working on the To-Do's might help.

  5. I'm not sure what bittermelon is...maybe a type of cantaloupe? I hope you have success. The people that lived here before me had white rocks in the front yard, but I wanted to do something different out there so I moved the rocks to the backyard and bought some brown ones to mix in with the white. It made it less stark. I outlined the area around the tree and made another area by the garage for bushes. I still have to buy bushes and find someone to plant them. Too many roots for me to dig. We have no rocks in the soil here, so they sell them!

    1. Those who classify things say that the bittermelon is a kind of gourd. I suppose so. They do have a texture of melon, but truly bitter. A nice bitter if you like bitter. A horrible bitter if you don't. The kind that makes you shudder and spit, just ask the Husband. You inspired me, Betty. I lined the base of the tree in our front yard with the rocks. Not sure yet if it'll be temporary. We're thinking of pulling out the lawn, as well as the tree. Executing our idea takes a while.
