Lovely and So Lively

My ABC Wednesday theme: The Mama and Her Authentic
Green Thumbs. . .and Fingers
A note to the participants of the Blogging A-to-Z April Challenge. You can find my "A" entry (A is for Adobo, Pork Adobo) here.

"The roses almost reach to your roof," said a friend of the Mama's, as the two were walking up to the house. "You need to prune them back."

The Mama smiled at the lovely and so lively roses. Some were taller than her.

"I already cut mine," said the friend.

"That's good."

"It's better that the roses are short."

"I like them tall. As tall as the roof. Taller," said the lovely and so lively Mama, shuffling to the front door.

It's ABC Wednesday, a meme began by Mrs. Denise Nesbitt and headed today by Roger Green and his helpers. Click here to read posts around today's letter L.

  1. Sometimes it is really good to let plants grow and grow and grow. I like my roses tall too!

    1. I suppose if the roses are shorter, the water wouldn't have to travel so far up the branch. I need to find out. We're in a drought, so it may be a good idea to prune. Bummer. I like the jungle of roses.

  5. I've just seen her pic in an older post and told myself, she has to be Filipina. Now that I see the word "adobo" on this post, I am sure she is.

    1. That's for sure, widdershins!

I've been thinking about putting together a book of my posts. You suggesting a book is encouraging. Thanks.

  7. Lovely Roses !
I always think of my dear Mama as she loved roses.
In our front garden we had two enormous rose bushes, the roses were pale pink and had the most delicate fragrance. The petals looked almost like velvet they were so smooth.
I remember my dear Papa cutting them, then presenting them to dear Mama, whilst she was slaving away in the hot kitchen, cooking the traditional Sunday Roast Dinner,
Even in the midst of high Summer the dinner was always cooked... No barbecues in those days.!
I must confess to carrying on with this tradition but sadly I lost all my lovely rose bushes when we had an extension built on the back of our house and the builders just obliterated them, whilst I was out at work.
After looking at 'The Mama's' glorious roses I shall get down to the local garden centre and buy some new rose plants... Perhaps you can tell her what her efforts has inspired me to do,
    Best wishes,
    Di.

    1. Hi, Di,
That's a beautiful story about your Papa and Mama. Your Mama would be so happy that you got yourself some new rose plants. The Mama of mine is pleased that you did. :-)
