Home Improvement Project

The Husband and I stood in line at the big-box home improvement store. As we waited our turn, I watched the busy movement around us. All the lines were long, a given for a Saturday,  I suppose. Men and women pushed their carts forward in line, all heaped with lumber, sacks of soil, cans of paint, plumbing fixtures, and other large and bulky items for their DIY projects.

Finally, it was our turn. The Husband placed his items on the counter—a tiny light bulb and two drawer knobs. The transaction was quick. As the cashier handed a tiny bag to the Husband, he said, "Enjoy your project."

The Husband still cracks up when he recalls that moment.

  1. I like drawer knobs. They can tell a story all of their own.

    1. I know what you mean, Manzi. Each of my drawers of the dresser has different sets of knobs. But, now I'd, like to have each knob be unique.

    1. Until we bought the drawer knobs, I had no idea there was nearly an aisle full of choices. That was fun looking through them.

  4. Hilarious! Now how many used their 28.8% Home Depot card? Sorry can't help myself-I'm a Credit Counsellor so my mind goes right to that. I love the drawing and pussy cats have a way to redesign a room as well

    1. Oooh, Credit Counsellor. That's an interesting profession, I think. It must be sad at times, hearing people's stories....I'm thinking the kitty cat is thinking one of those knobs are hers. Thanks for the compliment. :-)

  7. If you go somewhere like Lowes or Home Depot to buy lights and door knobs, they have self-checkout with no lines. I like going there for things like that, but I think the cleaning supplies thereare just way too expensive.

    1. I haven't bought cleaning supplies at either shop yet, so that's good to know. I had thought they'd be cheaper.

    1. Yeah, the kitchen floor could use a mopping. Molly the Cat is slow about getting that job done.

  9. You are a masochist for going through that on a Saturday, but I appreciate your determination. You've got some knobs on ya.

    (I'm sorry, that was terrible)

    1. Well, then, it's a good thing we hadn't bought a door knocker.
