2020, Here We Come!

Good Golly, Missy Molly!

That's the Girl from the other morning. After a few minutes of hanging in the chilly outdoors, she zipped into the house and went straight to her new bed, which is one of her favorite pillows covered with Mama's jacket.

The (wild) Cat must've felt pretty proud of herself this evening when she wandered around the living room without walking on the floor. She jumped about two feet from her table to a counter on which she tiptoed around obstacles, then hopped down onto the long couch on which the Husband and I sat. She paused for a long second to stretch herself before springing to the hassock and daintily stepping over my feet to a low table, upon which she carefully sniffed its expanse. When she was satisfied, Molly leaped to the small couch on the other side of the room. After a whole lot of sniffing and nuzzling of the couch, the hearth, and the back of the TV, Molly walked back over the low and wide table to settle herself into a snooze between the Husband and me on the long couch. Zzzzzzzzzzzzz.

The ophthalmologist's office called today to tell me I'm scheduled in mid-February for cataract surgery for my left eye. Gulp.

Good friend D.C. took this photo of me taking a photo of the sunset several days ago.  I discovered that I can capture more interesting shots if I hold my camera high above my head. The Husband says that I'll see sharper and brighter colors after my cataract surgery. I wonder if I'll want a new camera.

Cheers to a Grand 2020 for you and me!

All Seasons and Mosaic Monday are two memes I'm linking with today. Please check them out.

  1. Happy New Year. My sister said she sees colours that she wasn't even aware of since her recent cataract surgery.

  2. Lovely sunset - I had cataract surgery early at around 54 and it was like getting out of jail. I had worn glasses since I was 9 years old and couldn't see the big E on the chart w/o glasses unless I squinted. Now I only need glasses to read and that ain't bad!! Thanks for all your fun posts this year and all your visits. I'm so sorry you can't comment on my blog because I always enjoy your thoughts. Keep sending me contact messages and I'll run right over here and respond!!

  6. Great photos, I love the sunset :-) I think molly must have been playing the same game I played in my bedroom when I was about 12 years old - 'get round the room without touching the floor'. I would climb on, up and over everything I possibly could to get all the way round :-)

    1. Me too! I started around the age of 6 or 7. From my little teeny room (youngest of 4!) I could do that though it wasn't very challenging since the room was pretty small! I also would climb out the 2nd floor window and climb down the avacado tree and "escape". Never went far though....pick a mango and return, or find our kitty and bring her back to my room!
      Good memories!

  8. I want a new camera but not one I have manually adjust because I'm machine dylsexic! It's called dylcalculia. Nice contrast of Molly rolled in a ball and an expansive sky shot.

  9. Su-sieeemac - good luck with your cataract surgery. My mom had it done in her late 80s and it made quite a difference for her. Our kids have returned home, and it is just us and the cat. We are taking a page from Molly's book and are relaxing in front of the fire while it snows outside. A good way to spend New Year's Eve, in my mind! Thanks for linking to Mosaic Monday, and Happy New Year to you!

  10. oh so charming. What a good writer you are. I loved following along on Molly's walk, in my mind's eye. Surveying her domain, then resting in the knowledge that all was right in her world at the moment she rested. Ahhhh.
I get being nervous about the surgery, I would be too. It's creepy to think of anyone touching your eyes. I've heard lots of people say their vision returned to colorful after it, so you may not need a new camera but you may want one! LeeAnna

  11. I'm sure you'll appreciate the cataracts surgery after the fact. Good luck with the nerves before. I bet you'll find your camera is fine as it's taking better pictures than you realized.

  20. I think I need to come back as a house cat. All the best for your eye surgery. Both my parents and my sister had theirs done with no probs. I often take photos over my head - my camera has a swivel screen so I can see all around from different angles! Perfect when you can't get into position! Have a great 2020 and thank you for visiting my blog last week.
