Another Lazy Summer Sunday

I haven't had breakfast yet and I'm already thinking nap time. Molly the Cat and I woke up early today. Soon after sunrise.

And, it felt cool. That's a good thing.

It's been hot, I tell you. Maybe not as hot as where you are, but scorchers for us.

It got comfortable yesterday evening. You should've seen Molly. She scampered around the house, jumped on couches, sniffed in corners, and swished around our legs to see what we were doing. Her appetite came back. It was nice to see, after days of her lying like a rag on the floor next to an open window.

This morning, she popped upstairs and jumped on the bed. I pretended to be asleep so I could watch her try to sleep, or maybe stay awake. Whenever she seemed to nod off, she opened her eyes and looked around her. A couple times I closed my eyes only to open them moments later to see her looking at me. Ah, restlessness! We didn't even have to tiptoe away from the happily heavily snoring Husband.

Downstairs, Molly and I went our separate ways. Her to patrol the outdoor perimeter, me to bake a cherry pie. Hmmm, maybe the pie is cool enough to eat.

Today I'm linking up with All Seasons, a weekly meme hosted by Jesh at Artworks from Jesh St.G. Click here to check out Jesh. For the participants list, click here. Thanks, Jesh!

  1. Yeah, there was kind of a break in the heat yesterday, wasn't there? It was nice. Alas, it seems like it was only a short respite.

Glad the cat is feeling better.

    1. My body ought to be tempered to 100 degrees by now. Thank goodness this house is cool as long as we create a cross wind and keep the sun out.

  2. Anything hot food is edible if your brave enough. You can eat lava, but only once.

    1. Next on the agenda is to bake an apricot pie with last year's crop. (The fruit is in the freezer.)

  6. You're baking pies in that kind of weather, you crazy, girlfriend. I'm making a steak with onions right now but it's fairly pleasant, 69˚ with high humidity and 100 percent chance of tower fan. Kisses to Molly, I bet she's a lovely throw rug.

    1. Steak and onions, droooooooool. I overcooked the last steak we ate. That was a crying shame. I just had to eat a pie. It was okay. The cherries were bland even with sugar and lemon juice.

  7. hot and dry... and scary reading the news about other parts of California. Wish you could Email me a slice of that pie -- it is too hot here to bake (oh yeah, and I never bake any more, i forgot that).

    1. Sallie, you're in Eugene with no doubt several choices to find a good piece of pie. We have to drive miles and miles for good pie.

The fires seem to be getting larger every year. It riles me when I see people flick cigarette ashes out of their cars, even on city streets.

  8. We are (finally) back from vacation and I am catching up with my blogging buddies … how ya been? Oh yeah, you said - hot. We are supposed to get a break in the heat tomorrow, and so we are getting up at an ungodly hour to go hiking with friends. Oh well, we can sleep when we're dead, right? At least our humidity is always low and we can open the windows at night.

    1. Hey Angie! You could probably get me up at an ungodly hour, but it better be waaaaay great. :-) Our heat broke today. No 90s. The weather guys say we may have grace until next Saturday.
