Friday's Hunt v2.3

I love it when I can share a photo that captures all three items in Friday's Hunt, hosted by Teresa of Eden Hills. This week the items are 1) starts with C, 2) week's favorite, and 3) unique perspective.

The best part about this photo is that it came together all of a sudden this morning when I decided to de-pit a bunch of tart cherries with my nifty cherry de-pitter tool. No doubt there is a proper name for the tool, but I don't feel like doing a Google search for it.

I don't know what I'll do with the de-pitted cherries. Any suggestions?

  2. Make a cherry pie? I love cherry pie, especially with custard, and my mom used to make them when I was younger. Seeing your photo and thinking about it has made me want one now :)

  4. Mrs. Jim has a recipe for making the delicious Clafoutis, a French crustless pie. I'm sure Google can find it for you.
Thank you, Susie, for reminding me, I've been wanting to get her a pitter. Will make a nice Christmas present, I'll shop Sur la Tab.

  5. I would just eat them. I didn't know there was a gadget for taking the pits out. (I guess I've led a sheltered life.) I'm always afraid of breaking a tooth as I chew carefully around the pit! Now I know what to do.

  8. I would preserve them in Kirsch (Liqueur) delicious with ice cream or used in a sauce with duck, delicious, i have a cherry pitter as we call them in the UK. I love cherries and the best I've ever tasted are from Turkey, you can pick them fro trees along the roadside or buy them at a give away price at the local markets and roadside stalls.
    love Di xx

    1. Yummm. You always have delicious suggestions, Di. I like buying cherries from a farmer's fruitstand or at the farmers market. They are the best.

  9. As one who has no use for the pits but loves the tart-sweet taste, that is a great tool! I'd have them heated up in a saucepan then heat them until they pop and spoon a few over a good vanilla ice cream which will start to melt. Yum!

  10. Does the cherry pitter work well? I've never had one, but they sure would be nice if they work well. I just made cherry jam today. Pies are on the agenda for later in the week. Love that you got all three prompts in one image. Thank you so much for joining Friday's Hunt. Have a great week!
