Day 75 with Tilda-Hilda and The Guys

The Husband and his Sun Flame rode with Tilda-Hilda and me today. Hurrah! That's always fun. We pedaled nearly six miles on as flat of a route as we could find. There were a couple of hairy spots with inattentive drivers. Silly people.

The lighting was strange this morning because of a fire about 20 miles away to the south of town. It's very dry out there; unfortunately, the fire has spread over 300 acres, the last I heard. Hopefully, the firefighters can contain it today. Talk about being brave. Those men and women are the best examples of courage.

See you tomorrow with Jane Austen, Action Doll.

Update: The fire has now spread to 600 acres, eating up hillsides and mountainsides. More than 200 fire fire fighters, including firefighting pilots, are working on the blaze. According to afternoon news reports, only 10 percent of the fire was contained by mid-afternoon.

  1. I like knowing you & "The Husband" are friends . . . this is nice.

I never thought about a bird crashing into electrical poles . . . golly, (taking a moment to mourn the bird) - Then - moving on to concern about a grass fire . . sending hope for rain. . . (and extra sandwiches for firefighters)

    1. Gotta be friends to be married. What's the use, otherwise. :-)

I deleted the info about the bird because it hasn't been formally determined that was the cause for the fire. I think I read it in a news article this morning. No rain in sight. The wind picked up this afternoon. We can only hope that didn't, and doesn't make things worse.

  2. Yikes! A ire like that can be hairy. We've had fire from an icy branch crashing onto a transformer.

    1. This is the biggest fire that we've had in a very long time. It's doubled in size since I've written. Today was the first day for the Husband in months, and the first long one with his new medication. He did quite well. I think though it may be a good idea for us to go around the perimeter of our neighborhood several times the next time we go out together.

  3. Are you 3 going to be ok? The fire, to me, sounds close. I am glad you are both enjoying your cycling and it's obvious you love being together. I see too many couples who don't seem happy together. I agree about the firefighters-they are heroic!

    1. The fire sounds close but there are hills between us. Someone told this afternoon that the fire was only 60% out and that was a bit of rain late at night. I hope they had it under control before a strong gust of wind a couple hours ago.

  4. I think getting out on the bike is the best exercise ever. I know about the fires, it is a scary part of California life. I lived through an evacuation, and never again. That is why I live in the city now because the mountains are pretty, but I never liked shoveling snow, or worrying about fire danger.

    1. Once upon a time I wanted to live in the Santa Cruz mountains. It's just as well that didn't come to be. I'm such a worry wort. I'm happy living nearby.

    1. When I was younger, I made a list of things I'd want my husband to be. The silly physical thing was he had to look good in jeans and a 3-piece suit. The other stuff were be able to communicate and share things with each other. I was fortunate 2 times in my life.
