The Mama's Daisies

My ABC Wednesday theme: The Mama and Her Authentic Green Thumbs
. . .and Fingers

The Mama loves her daisies, but she complains that they're a pain to deadhead. She does it anyway so that they continue to bloom. And, bloom, they do throughout the year. I've taken to snapping off old and spent daisies off the plants in the front yard while Molly the Cat wanders about. When I started, it was to be a good assistant to the Mama. Now, I do it more for me. It helps me find zen.

One of these days, I'd like to get her some regular white daisies. Check out what colors and types she has now.

Today is the letter D at ABC Wednesday, a fun weekly blog hop created by Denise Nesbitt 16 rounds ago. Currently it is being administered by Roger Green at Ramblin' with Roger, with the help of his ABC Wednesday friends.  Please click here to read other ABC posts.

  8. Look at your mama! Love the picture and it is so nice to see flowers as, right now we have a balmy -15C and tons of snow. I bought some flowers-pretty yellow/orange ones and I was deadheading. My mom then asked me"why are you taking the flower heads off?" I told her they were dead and she laughed because they had just closed up at night as they needed sun to open. That's how wonderful I am in gardening

  10. Susie,

I didn't know daisies are supposed to be dead headed. That's probably the reason the Mama's daisies are so much better than mine!

    1. Until a few years ago, neither did I. What I need to do is get my own scissors and bench so I can sit out there and deadhead the flowers. There's something zen about it.

  11. The photograph of your mother reminds me of my grandmother. She used to have a lush garden with flowering plants and trees where my cousins and I used to get lost in pretend play. Blessings!
