Doodle the Time Away

I can doodle my way out of impatience while I wait in a doctor’s waiting room and then wait longer in an examination room. What do you do to remain a patient patient? The above doodle was created during my final follow-up with Dr. G who replaced my left knee joint and realigned my leg. A miracle maker, he is.  He thought I was giving it to him when I showed him the doodle. “I’m going to need it back,” I said. “This is on the back of my receipt.”  A couple weeks later, I turned the doodle into a thank-you card for Dr. G who is moving on to new adventures. Cheers, Dr. G! I’m sharing today’s post with Art for Fun Friday . Thanks for dropping by. See ya!

Some People

This morning, I learned that someone under the influence of alcohol or drugs flipped his or her car in the cemetery where my family’s remains are buried. The car landed quite near where my older sister lay.  What kind of person does that, race through a cemetery, whether DUI or not? The same kind who shoots into a group of people because he thinks he sees someone he hates but that person was not there at all?  The same kind who smoke bombs and shoots in a subway car?  The same kind who invades a country?  The same kind who walks out on a person who has been appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court?  The same kind who ignites the anger of others so that they will do violence and destruction for him, but then pretend dumb about having any part of it? The same kind who bullies others to get what he wants, but when others stand up to him, he cries foul and feels victimized?  Disgusting.  I suppose the one positive thing I can say about those kind of people is that they remind me I do not want t

When Pigs Fly

Here’s another collage card I made during my meanwhile, aka the covid19 lockdown, for a friend. I may not ever buy greeting cards again. :-) I’m linking up with a new meme today, Art for Fun Friday  hosted by poet Gillena Cox.

A Scrappy Greeting

My first crafted greeting cards were made of fabric scraps and costume jewelry.  Bzzz, bzzz went the sewing machine.  Ouch! went I as I stitched by hand.  See the red hearts in this card. They’re cut from my once-upon-a-dress Mama made for me in grammar school. Fun!

Card Crafting

Greeting cards galore—birthday cards, Christmas cards, Valentine cards, sympathy cards, and more. All vintage (1930 to whenever vintage stops), all used. All ours. Most of the cards are inherited from either Mama’s or the Husband’s parents’ collection of sentiments. We found the greeting cards, individually and in clumps, in envelopes, file folders, shoeboxes, and what-nots.  What do you do with your parents’ memorabilia? Our first reaction. Ignore them for years and years. Then came the COVID-19 lockdown. A lot of the cards got sorted. Some saved, others thrown out, and some cut up to make into our own greeting cards. We actually made Christmas cards last year, but I forgot to take photos. Lucky you! lol
