I is for In Search of the Letter I

My theme for #23 Round of ABC Wednesday:
Signs & Such of San Benito County, California

Yesterday afternoon, at Bertuccio's, a produce market in Hollister, I remembered I had yet to photograph a sign or such that began with the letter I. Twice, I combed that store in search of the letter I.  Amazingly, no vegetable, fruit, or food product began with I.

Aha! The vintage weigh scale on display had something: IN TRADE. The complete phrase was NOT LEGAL FOR USE IN TRADE. I have no idea what that means.

  1. I think it means that the scale is only to get an idea of how much something weighs. They can't guarantee that the scale is very accurate. But that's a guess.

    1. If I'm recalling correctly, the scale had a 1904 date on it. It surprises me that non-useful weight scales might've been produced then.

  2. Hmm no idea what that means but I like your inventive find for the letter I

    1. Grazie, Birgit. Fortunately for me, the young woman working at the market thought I was more amusing than crazy.

  4. 1904 ... I bet it's just about as accurate now as it was then. :)
