You Win Some, You Lose Some

In yesterday's post, I mentioned that I decided to accompany the Husband into the Big Store in Our Town to pick up his prescription because a guy was yelling in the parking lot.

Inside the store, I said, "Go ahead. I'm going to take my time."

"I won't take long," he said.

"I'll be on the main aisle. You'll see me when you walk back."  Off the Husband went.

There wasn't much to see, and I was nearing the aisle to the pharmacy.

Ecco! Notebooks for sale. I didn't need a notebook, I told myself, as I picked up the bright mustard yellow covered one.  Ooh la!

Oh, mio! The sign said .25 per notebook!

I might as well get two. This red one is cute. Heck, if the next one is blue, I'll buy it. Now holding three notebooks, I convinced myself that if the cover of the next notebook is green, I shall buy it.

Ecco! Four notebooks for a dollar. Does anyone else think that's a greater than great value? Thank you, Big Store in Our Town.

Unfortunately for us, the Husband did not make his way back down the main aisle before I turned on the aisle to the pharmacy window. He still stood in line. Along with the four notebooks, I showed him a cute tin box of 16 Crayola markers. As I wrote that sentence, I realized how I paid too much for that product. Bad me. However, says my rationalizing self, the cost of the notebooks offsets that of the box of markers. Yup, I'm sticking with that.

Methinks it's better that I don't accompany the Husband into the Big Store in Our Town when he picks up his prescriptions. At least, not all the time.

  1. I used to have many back in my school days. I also remember the color folders at office depot for like a dime a piece

  2. You USE color - Everywhere - It's part of your Language of Life - You'll use those markers for marvelous things - the best of all is the JOY . . . worth whatever was paid.

    1. You're right, G! They're great for sketching, I'm finding. The best thing so far: The Husband played with them too when I wasn't looking. That paid for them right there.

  4. notebooks are a necessity even for untalented people like me... so those were a huge savings. And you are an artist, so the markers were a necessity too! And even if they weren't you're worth it!

    1. Hey Sallie you know that saying "It takes one to know one"? I appreciate you calling me an artist. Only another would recognize another. :-)

  5. This is the time of year when the school supplies are dirt cheap. So, yeah, stay away if you like stationary and such.

  6. No matter what you still saved money and I’m all for that plus you will use them so even better

    1. I have been doodling with the pens, but I still feel shy around them. Maybe it'll feel better once I introduce them to the colored pencils and crayons.

  7. I am a sucker for school supplies - and no-one in this house goes anywhere near an educational institution!

    1. Same here. I read the Michael's ad today about $5 sketchbooks. It's a good thing that meant I would to have put on clothes and drive to the next town. That wasn't happening today.
