Jane Austen, Action Doll, patted the granite spire before her. She admired its solidity and solitariness.
"If rocks could speak, the stories they could tell us," she said. "Oh, and the scolding they might give us."
"Dear me, where has my rock pick gone?"

What a fun theme for the A to Z Challenge! Enjoyed picturing Jane Austen as a geologist. :)
ReplyDeleteA Jane Austen action doll? I really need one.

:-) She's a great companion, not much of a word and sentence taskmaster, thank goodness.
DeleteShe's quite right about teh scolding. :)
ReplyDeleteTotally.
DeleteShe is going to rock the world
ReplyDeletelol!
DeleteAwesome post! When I was twelve I aspired to being a geologist.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Linda. :-)
DeleteI don't think this is the one for -- this is definitely not Jane.... although of course she is right about the stories the rocks could tell, her skirts are going to get in her way even if she finds the pick!
ReplyDeleteThose skirts! When she works alone, she could tie them up out of the way.
DeleteGeology would be an interesting career path for Jane Austin action doll. Weekends In Maine
ReplyDeleteThe sharp edges of rocks wouldn't hurt her plastic skin too much, that's for sure. :-0
DeleteShe might have been happy amongst rocks. There was that one line... (And now I can't think of even which book it was from. Drat!)
ReplyDeleteHmmm, I think of Jane Eyre wandering the moors.
DeleteShe’s right...the rocks would give us a scolding
ReplyDeleteI just hope they don't think of burying us.
