A Tidbit from the Past

Today I found a note I wrote to the Mama in 1968 or 1969 from the look of the psychedelic colored stationery.

On the envelope, I wrote
To Mama
To Brighten your day with a bit of May

On the neon green paper, I wrote

Mama,

You're the greatest,
I say you are!

So sorry I have nothing
to give you but this.

But, then maybe soon I'll give you
some thing other than a jar

And both you and me can be
in true bliss.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY. . .

though you still have to
do some work!

Love
Susie
or Me, the Lazy One

I wonder if the jar had anything in it.

It's the letter T at ABC Wednesday. Click here to check out other T posts.

  1. I know what the jar had in it...The Aura of Susie...the lazy one!
Each day she could inhale the gentle aroma of her loving daughter.
The colour green reminds of the leaves of the Lily of the Valley
plant which has a divine scent.... do you have any of them in Mama's
    garden?
Just a though, and kind thoughts also, to you and 'the husband'and of Molly
    the cat.

    love and hugs,
    Di,

    1. Lily of the Valley! I wonder if it'll grow here. I think of it as a shady flower. They might like it under the trees. Must check it out. Love you hugs, Di. :-)

    1. It's with the Mama's dying and death that I've come to understand how much we loved each other deeply. Our battles were fierce for many years. We were quite critical of each other.

    2. I understand, those battles to... but you both won through love!

  7. I have saved notes given to me by my daughters and I hope and pray that some day when they see I kept them, they will truly understand how much I love(d) them.

    1. I think they will, Leslie. The Mama was never much for showing outward affection, so I often wondered. Finding so many of my notes, letters, and cards to her amazes me.

  8. Your letter to your mum is more precious than any expensive piece of jewelry. I got a letter from one of my daughter's saying "to my super dear mother". This made me very happy.I save all letters or notes from my children.

    1. Thanks, Wil, for sharing how you feel getting notes from your kids. The Mama must've felt the same way.

  9. That should go in a memory box!

  10. It really is so nice to find things that your Mama kept and treasured. This is worth keeping and make a nice memory box as Betty stated or a scrapbook.

    1. I have this idea to make a memory collage. The Mama has a huge print and a painting that I thought I'd donate, but now I'm thinking I might use one or both as canvases. This may be a good distraction for me.
