Bark, Bark! Hooooooowwwwwwl!

A cute huge puppy lives next door. Whenever his humans go to work, they put him in his kennel outside. That is near our kitchen window.

Bark, Bark! Hooooooowwwwwwl!

All day.

The puppy has gotten better about barking and howling less. And, as long as I'm on the other side of our house, I can tolerate his whines and demands to be brought back inside the house. But, there are times when my patience wears thin.

The Mama told me to be nice and not tell them about the barking and howling.  What about them being nice, I said.

His humans are nice people. A young couple. The Husband and I talked with them a couple of weeks ago. It turned out they are aware of the puppy's barking and howling. We were the third neighbor to inform them.

The puppy's humans are doing their best to resolve the problem.  At least, I hope so.

I do feel sorry for the puppy being out in the elements during the day. Still.

Bark, Bark! Hooooooowwwwwwl!

  1. I feel so sorry for the puppy. Why is he not inside? He may feel better if he is kept in the kitchen with some music and his favourite toys. I am not happy to hear that he is outside all day when it is hot or rainy.

    1. We had neighbors who left a big dog outside all hours of the day and night. The poor thing was jumping over the fence to look at people. He looked so sad, and it made me wonder why they had a dog when they never really seemed to interact with him.

    2. I have no doubt the young couple love their big puppy. They bring him indoors the instant they come home. When I can't stand his barking anymore, I go outside and talk to the dog through the fence cracks. Sometimes I tell him to shut it now. Other times I talk to him in what I hope is a firm, reasonable voice that it's going to hours before his owners come home, so he needs to suck it up.

    3. I am glad they bring him in right away and you are sweet to talk to him. Maybe they should give him a Kong with peanut butter inside. Keeps the dog entertained for a while any way

  2. Sigh. That is stressful - It's sad to know the owners are aware of the constant barking and have not remedied the situation . . . they are fortunate if one of those neighbors has not, yet - called authorities . . . STILL - I really like your art - makes me happy.

    1. I'm hoping the young couple will do what's right for the dog and us, neighbors. Thanks, G. On a happy note, this afternoon, the Husband and I purchased one of the art masterpieces by schoolchildren on display at the local art gallery. I can hardly wait to bring it home.

    1. Thanks, Pippa. I'm hoping too, that they train the dog and themselves.

  4. Dog barking has never bothered me. Actually, the barking makes me think the human owners really are not very good to the dog because he is seeking attention, and has not been trained how to behave properly. However, in general the sound of a dog barking never bothered me because I grew up near a forest where coyotes howled constantly, which would set off the mountain dogs howling, and they would go back and fourth.

    1. I can take muted large dog barking to tiny yappy dog barking or LOUD music. We've had to deal with that on our street in the past. The image of dogs and coyotes howling back and forth is astounding.

  5. Poor little puppy. What a cruel thing to do. Even if they have the best intentions in the world, it's still cruel. :(

  6. It is hard when you have to leave a pet outdoors. Our youngest daughter Hannah had a tiny chihuahua, Roxanne and when Roxanne passed away Hannah got Leo. He is giant sized. Part Mastiff/Shepherd. He loves to sniff all the neighbor dogs through the fences. But he only barks at me if I don't let him outside to chase rabbits quick enough! I talk with dogs too. They understand us.

    1. The puppy is barking less. His owners gave him a very nice house to lay in, which I think helps him feel more secure about being out there.
