X is for Xmas Cookies

I bake cookies at least once a year. And, that's at Xmas. What's Xmas without the yummy smell of cookies baking in the oven, right?

Those first few years of baking Xmas cookies, I'd go through cookbooks, looking for interesting cookie recipes to try. But, always, I'd end up following certain recipes in a Women's Day cookie recipe booklet. That may be how I got hooked reading cookbooks.

I used to bake a bunch of different cookies. Not anymore. Now, I bake three kinds of cookies. Persimmon biscotti, the Mama's favorite; Russian tea cakes, the Husband's favorite: and a persimmon, chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin, or gingersnap cookie.

Do you bake Xmas cookies? What cookies do you like to bake?

    1. The Mama is the only one who can eat cookies without any unnecessary weight gain. Plus, she knows when to stop. The Husband, too. Me, I'm still a bit bad about it.

  3. Yum, I haven't baked many cookies lately but the persimmon biscotti sound nummy. I love anise biscotti and also a savory biscotti that uses parmesan or romano cheese and cracked pepper. I find it works better if I throw in some cheddar to make it cheesier tasting.

  4. I used to bake sugar cookies when my kids were small, but no more. Although, I do cook, I try to stay out of the kitchen when possible. :)

  5. Mrs Widds gave away the last of our frozen Xmas cookie dough the other day. She loves the creative aspect of trying new recipes, but usually only bakes 6 - 3 each - and the rest goes into the freezer.

    1. Hmmm, I ought to do that. I could bake the cookies in the toaster oven, then. Thanks for the idea.

    1. Super stellar baker, I'm not. I used to be very scared of baking because of the preciseness of it all.

    1. Yummmmmmmm. I want to be at your house for Christmas. I'll just sit in a corner eating cookies. Don't mind me.

  8. I love persimmons cookies. But one time my mom made a whole bunch, and I went hog wild and ate the whole cookie jar. It coincided with the time I was getting the flu, so in the future I learned not to eat that many cookies again.

  10. Mmmm cookies! I love cookies. My go to are chocolate chip, oatmeal raisin or oatmeal drop cookies (the chocolate no bake kind) or a peanut butter/oatmeal sandwich cookie that has a peanut butter frosting sandwiched in. *noms*

    1. Yummmmm. I like the sound of the peanut butter sandwich cookie. Peanut butter is great source of protein so that would be a perfect cookie for lunch.

  11. I gave up baking cookies. My husband does it all now. He baked 4 or 5 different kinds for Christmas, sending boxes away and keeping dozens here at the house. He baked chocolate chip, peanut butter, sugar cookies, spice cookies. and I think another one I can't remember what now.
