Jane Austen, Action Doll, pondered the flower stand on the street corner in the busy financial section of the city. She loved the sight of the white buckets full of gerber daisies, tiger lilies, roses, carnations, gladiolas, baby breath, gardenias, snapdragons, and sunflowers. "They're so beautiful." Jane took a deep breath. "So fragrant. Mmmmmmm."   "Yes, this could be the perfect alternative to being an author," said Jane. She stepped into the flower stand to try her hand as a floral vendor, much to the surprise of the florist.  Jane even brought her own apron.  My theme for this year's challenge is Jane Austen, Action Doll, Seeks a New Career .   "A career as an engineer or an epidemiologist sounds exciting," said Jane Austen, Action Doll. "But, I love to dance." Jane stepped into a cha-cha-cha, transitioning smoothly into the samba. Moments later, she twirled, hopped, and, in quick sequence, performed the five basic steps of ballet. From the fifth step, she stretched into a modern dance pose, did a few cartwheels, paused, then tap danced across the room ala Eleanor Powell. Jane ended her impromptu dance with a bit of flamenco. "Yi-ha!" said Jessie, taking Jane Austen, Action Doll, by the arm.  "Get a move on, Janey," said Woody, gently pushing Jane forward.  "Where are we going?" asked Jane.  "You are going to participate in your first horse show," said Woody. "I have never ridden a horse before." Jane gulped, looking tentatively at the wild-eyed looking horse. "Don't you worry your pretty smart head, Janey," said Jessie, "Bullseye is a sweetheart. Won't hurt a flea. Before you know it, you and Bullseye will be galloping into the sunset." "Yes, m'am," said Woody. "You certainly well." Jane looked at the confidence shining on both her friends' faces. She swallowed away her nervousness. "All right, then. Let's go!" "Yi-ha!" all three exclaimed. "Playing at third base, ladies and gentlemen, is the great lady herself," announced the baseball commentator, "Jaaaaaaaaane Austeeeeen." Can you see it—Jane Austen, Action Doll, plays third base for the San Francisco Giants? Or any professional league team, for that matter. I like to think that Jane Austen is athletic because her characters are. Lizzy Bennett enjoys taking long walks in the woods, for instance. Shall I be an aerobatic pilot? wonders Jane Austen, Action Doll. Could I be so bold to soar and tumble? Fly upside down?
