A Double Rainbow

It was about 20 minutes before sunset when I heard the rain on the roof next door. "It's raining," I said, clicking away on the keyboard. The Husband shifted in his seat behind me. "The sun is out," he said. "There must be a rainbow somewhere." The vertical blinds rustled. "It's right outside!" "Everyone's getting their camera. Click, click," I said as I crossed the room, thinking about the growing number of people suddenly sharing their photos of our town on a couple of local Facebook groups. I peeked through the slats. "I'm getting my camera." The Husband followed me down the stairs and out the door. We were greeted by a brilliant rainbow. "Look, look! Another rainbow!" I said, clicking away. Two rainbows. A gentle rain. The sun setting. What more could we ask for? Some  clouds cleared beneath the rainbow. "The moon!" I'm participating in Our World Tuesday . To se

Orange Car

Huh? It's March already! Sometimes I think I'm Rip Van Winkle. Anyway, this morning I felt like playing around with bright colors. And, whaddaya know, I found a photo I took from last year's street fair and car show in town. I had fun discovering a few more features in Photoshop. The car looks like it's laughing in the third image. What do you think? Now, I'm ready to tackle my To-Do List. By the way, I'm hooking up with Mandarin Orange Monday , hosted by the fantastic artist Lori at Lorikart . Click here to see other orange posts by bloggers from around the world.

Gone Today, Hair Tomorrow

Over an hour ago, I put down the scissors and the Husband had a new look. His beard was trimmed and his long, beautiful locks were no more, which he had been growing for nearly four years. Recall that three weeks ago he cut off mine .  Molly the Cat always seems to know when we're doing something interesting. All of a sudden there she was watching us set up the cutting area in the kitchen. She hung out until nearly all of the Husband's hair was on the floor. She hasn't seen the Husband yet with his new look. We're wondering if Molly the Cat will act shy around the Husband when she finally sees him. She only knows him as a hairy guy.

The Comma

The comma has always, always given me problems. Where, oh, where to put that itty-bitty squiggly line of a hook within a sentence. That's why I love writing simple sentences, where the commas I generally need are for a series. Series? Yes, as in red, white, and blue. Or, if you're one who withholds the last comma, then: red, white and blue. I don't know what they teach in English these days, but back in my day (hahahahaha, back in my day, as if I'm sooo old, but to someone younger than 60, I suppose I am), I was initially taught the series (or serial or Oxford, if you prefer) comma. That's the one where you place a comma before the conjunction: red, white, and blue. That all changed in 10th grade. The English teachers, as well as the journalism instructor, were marking me off for following the series comma rule and demanding that I drop the comma before the conjunction: red, white and blue. Me, being a sheep, followed suit. From day one, I thought a series wit

Behind the Screen

"May I go outside, please?" asked Molly the Cat, nearly squishing her face to the screened door. Molly and I are heading over to The Weekend in Black and White , hosted by Dragonstar. Come join us by clicking here .

The Dude, The Husband -- Observant

I love it when the Husband says, "Take a picture of me." And, I trail after him as he excitedly heads over to a building, a sign, or something else that he has observed. I wait as he sets himself up, then says, "Go ahead." This photo, for instance. He saw this sign last year at a corn maze. It wasn't obvious to me what he was going for but that didn't stop me from taking the photo. It's only now that I see what he had been pointing at. No. I don't recall him taking off his hat that day. Growing!

My ABC Wednesday theme: The Mama and Her Authentic Green Thumbs . . .and Fingers And just like that the Mama's trees in the backyard are bursting with life. Gee, when did the leaves start sprouting on the miracle tree? Golly, the young apricot tree has a lot of buds this year.  Gosh, the banana leaves have begun unfurling.   I'm participating in ABC Wednesday , a meme began Mrs. Denise Nesbitt and administered today by Roger Green at Ramblin' with Roger . Today is the letter G . Click here to read other G posts.
